Sunday, November 21 – Mayflower Marathon Food Drive. This annual event helps to brighten the upcoming holidays for those in need. Preston Powers, the clubs’ organizer for this event, has asked that you load your Vette’s trunk with non-perishable food items for this event. Plan to meet between 1:00 and 1:30 pm in the west end of Pembroke Mall near the TARGET Store. There will be a contribution jar where you can add a few dollars in the event your trunks aren’t full of food items and a little before 2:00 pm the Vettes will proceed to the Food Drive Trucks where your food items will be off-loaded, and a cash presentation made to the Food Bank. Afterward the crowd will goe to Mission BBQ for eats. For further details please contact Preston Powers at 1-757-449-7676.

NEW EVENT Sunday, November 21, 2021 – Mayflower Marathon Food Drive. The Mayflower Marathon is a 57-hour consecutive food and fund drive that occurs the weekend before Thanksgiving each year. The tradition of the low contact drive-thru model allows the Foodbank to continue to operate in the same safe, efficient model to collect and distribute food quickly to families in need this Thanksgiving. Last year, this event collected enough food and monetary donations to provide more than one-million meals. This is one of the charities the Beachcombers has supported for many years and once again we’ll be doing our part in supporting this worthwhile event. The Beachcombers and other area Corvette Clubs will meet in the Pembroke Mall parking lot near the Target store on Sunday, November 21 at 1:00 pm. The procession of Corvettes is usually the finale for the Food Drive, so at the appropriate time we’ll proceed to the food drop-off area where your food donations will be off-loaded from your car and a monetary donation will be given to the Foodbank. Following the food drop-off we’ll head over to the Mission BBQ for food.
